In the wake of Rob Reiner's death at 78, Jordan Belfort is sharing a sweet video the late filmmaker filmed for his father Maxwell Belfort before he died in 2019.

On Tuesday Dec. 16, Belfort, 63, shared an undated video to Instagram that he said Reiner sent to his family prior to his father's death. Reiner famously portrayed Maxwell in 2013's The Wolf of Wall Street, the 2013 Martin Scorsese-directed movie that saw Leonardo DiCaprio star as the former stockbroker.

"Hey, Mr. Belfort. It's Rob Reiner, I played you in the movie. It was a privilege," Reiner said in the video. "Got to know your son and I know he's with you now and everybody that you love is with you now. And I just wanted to say hi and you gave me a great thrill to be able to play you in the film."

Jordan previously posted on Facebook that his father, whom he referred to as "Mad Max," died in September 2019. He shared the video on Dec. 16 as a tribute to Reiner two days after he and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were killed on Sunday, Dec. 14. "Rob Reiner sent this to my father on his death bed," he wrote in a caption to the post. "Truly a class act. RIP."

The couple's son Nick Reiner, 32, was taken into custody on Dec. 14, and has been charged with two counts of murder in relation to Rob and Michele's deaths. The Los Angeles Police Department said in a Dec. 15 press release that Nick was being held on no bail.

Rob and Michele also shared son Jake and daughter Romy, 28. Rob also has a daughter, Tracy, from his first marriage to Penny Marshall. Rob and Michele had been married since 1989; they met while Rob was directing When Harry Met Sally..., which was released that same year.

Reiner played a supporting role opposite DiCaprio, 51, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Jon Favreau and more in The Wolf of Wall Street, a biopic of Jordan's life based on his own 2007 memoir of the same name.

Jordan's Instagram post comes as a number of celebrities — including Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband Christopher Guest, Kathy Bates, Jerry O'Connell, Corey Feldman, Cary Elwes, John Cusack, Mandy Patinkin and more — paid tribute to his life and career after his murder.
