Sally Struthers has a deep appreciation for the time she shared with Rob Reiner.

Speaking with Woman's World, the actress, 78, says she doesn't believe that the characters the pair portrayed, husband and wife Mike and Gloria, would have enjoyed a lasting marriage. That said, she believes Gloria was "inspired" by Mike.

"Gloria Bunker Stivic would have remarried,” she told the outlet. “Someone just as inspiring as her first husband, because Mike taught Gloria a lot.”

All in the Family ran from 1971 to 1979 on CBS, and Struthers appeared in 182 episodes. She also starred in the spinoff Archie Bunker's Place and her own short-lived spinoff, Gloria.

Struthers told the outlet that Reiner was a "machine" who gave her some of her most valued career advice.

“If you can make the show itself more important than your own part, you will wind up offering to give up some of your lines," Sally recalled of his guidance, something she's held close in the years since.

Struthers released a statement to Deadline following the news of Reiner's death, saying, “There are no words. This is beyond devastating and my heart is with their family.”

Struthers and Reiner last appeared together at the Jan. 2024 Emmy ceremony, in a tribute to All in the Family showrunner Norman Lear.

“Sally and I were part of a unique television family: not just the Bunkers, but Norman Lear’s extended family,” Reiner said at the time. “Over the decades, Norman brought us together and he created groundbreaking television shows that depicted real people who made us laugh, made us think, made us feel.”
