Keke Palmer said she's not interested in living with any future romantic partners, even if she gets married

"You can be in the guest house, we can be on the same land, but I'm over there and he's over there," she said

Palmer shares her son, 2, with ex Darius Jackson

Keke Palmer has boundaries about living arrangements with romantic partners.

The actress, 32, said she does not feel a desire to live with any future significant others when she appeared on Today with Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on Monday, Feb. 2, while promoting her Peacock series The 'Burbs.

Palmer introduced the topic after she, Hager, 44, and Jones, 47, discussed what the Today show described as a new dating trend in which people discuss important issues — marriage, politics, their interest in having children — on a first date.

"I think that's actually good. Just get it out of the way, because sometimes you end up talking to somebody and y'all never talk about anything real, any of the things that actually show compatibility life-wise," Palmer said.

In response, Hager initiated a role-play scenario as if she and Palmer were on a first date and asked the actress and singer if she wants kids. (Palmer is already a mom to 2-year-old son Leodis, whom she shares with ex Darius Jackson.)"I could be open, but one thing I need you to know is I never want to live together. I like my alone time," Palmer responded. "That's real. I'm speaking as The Keke," she added, when Hager asked if that is a real opinion she holds.

"I just feel like Whoopi Goldberg said it best once. She was like, 'I don't want nobody in my house.' And I feel that. I'm serious — married, even."

"You're just gonna live around the corner?" Jones asked, to which Palmer responded, "Around the corner would be great. ... You can be in the guest house, we can be on the same land, but I'm over there and he's over there. At best, separate rooms."

Palmer also said she would not want to share her bathroom with a partner. "But think about how fun it would be to be like, 'I'm going over to my man's house.' Over there, hi husband!" she added, with a laugh. "It keeps it fun and exciting. I want to go sit on his couch."

Palmer's new series The 'Burbs begins airing Feb. 8. She will next appear on the big screen in I Love Boosters, in theaters May 22.
