Donald Trump used his Truth Social platform to offer unexpected praise for Tom Brady.
The relationship between Trump and Brady stretches back many years, with the 79 year old president having demonstrated his passion for sports on numerous occasions. His enthusiasm for football once led him to pursue ownership of his own team.
On Saturday, the president suggested Brady occupies an elite tier among athletes. This follows reports that Trump once disparaged Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, by drawing unfavorable comparisons to Brady. It comes after Trump was spotted on golf course before angry rant against judge's wife.

Trump shared a photograph on his Truth Social account showing himself in conversation with Brady, who appears in his Patriots helmet and uniform. The image features the word "GOAT" - an acronym for Greatest Of All Time - suggesting Trump regards the retired quarterback as football's finest player.
The post's caption stated simply: "Tom Brady is a great player, and great guy! President DJT." This recent tribute represents another chapter in the evolving dynamic between the two men, which appears to have cooled in recent years.

Their association began in 2002, giving them over two decades of acquaintance. In 2015, following Trump's presidential campaign launch, Brady drew attention when a "Make America Great Again" hat was spotted in his locker. Brady subsequently felt compelled to address and explain his connection to Trump.

"He sent it to me via R.K.K.," Brady told Boston's WEEI, referring to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. "He always gives me a call and different types of motivational speeches at different times.
"So now that he's running for president, he sent me a hat, and he gave it to R.K.K. a couple weeks ago. So it found its way to my locker." At the time, Brady declined to reveal his voting choice, though he commended Trump's decision to pursue the presidency.
"I mean it's pretty amazing what he's been able to accomplish," the NFL legend said at the time. "He obviously appeals to a lot of people, and he's a hell of a lot of fun to play golf with."
However, the now-48 year old acknowledged that his connection with the president had faded significantly from its earlier days. In a 2022 interview with Variety, the athlete disclosed that he had stopped communicating with Trump in the years following the discovery of the "MAGA" hat in his locker. "No, I haven't talked to him in a lot of years," Brady said in an interview to the outlet in 2022.
Regarding how the public has viewed Brady's association with Trump throughout the years, the former quarterback stated: "I think they just mischaracterized a lot. And my personality isn't ever one to insult anybody. I have plenty of my own flaws.
"I'm not here to point out anyone else's flaws. There are things that I agree with. There are things that I don't. There are things I agree with my wife about. There are things that I don't. I love her to death, but we don't always see eye to eye.
"I don't see eye to eye with anyone. And I'm not responsible for what other people say. I'm really responsible for what I say. So if people want to say things that I said or that I'm about, that's up to them, and I'm not going to respond to all those things all the time either."
