While chatting with PEOPLE at the 2025 Gotham Awards, the Blink Twice star, 56, opened up about how his children, especially his son and daughter Lena whom he shares with wife Brittany Lopez, are impacted by his fame. He shares that his star power means "nothing" to them, adding, "they're the greatest."
"My older daughter, I suppose, has some sense of it. But it means nothing to her, and it means nothing to my younger daughter, too," he says. "It's meaningless, but they're the greatest. It was really nice to have them there."

Slater, a father of four, is also a dad to two older kids — son Jaden, 25, and daughter Eliana, 23 — with ex-wife Ryan Haddon. Back in June, he celebrated a significant career moment with his family by his side.
The Heathers actor received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, June 9, with his wife and his daughters Eliana and Lena by his side. The actor posed with his family for the major milestone in his long career.
"I have amazing and wonderful children [and] I can't imagine my life without them. They are the greatest," he shared while accepting the honor. After he gave a sweet shout-out to his wife, Slater concluded his speech by saying, "Having a star on Hollywood Blvd is great, but none of this would have been possible without my family and the love I have today."
Before the birth of his youngest child, the actor opened up to PEOPLE in August 2024 about experiencing fatherhood at this stage in his life.
“The whole thing is different. I'm certainly a lot more present and I just love it," Slater said. “I think I was more scared of it the first go around and a little bit more confused, and I was very distracted."
He added, "And now, it's all I really think about, and all I really care about, and all I want to be around. I'm happy to be in that situation.”

Months later, ahead of the premiere of Dexter: Original Sin, Slater told Fox News Digital that he prefers being at home with his family.
"Back in the 90s, it was like all I could wish for was just to be somewhere else all the time," he said. "Now I really like to be home."
Back in December 2024, the actor, who stars in the new TV series Dexter: Original Sin, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and opened up about welcoming his baby boy. When asked about his daughter Lena, Slater revealed she had a funny reaction to learning that she'd be an older sibling.
"When we told her that my wife was pregnant, she asked when he was going to come. And we said, ‘Well, about six more months he’s going to be here,' " he remembered.
"And she goes, ‘Okay good. I have time to build a wall.’ She was ready to protect all of her toys," Slater joked.
