She remembers the two leads, Keough in particular, going "through hell" to make the show
"I remember looking at [Keough] and being like, 'Wow, I'm jealous of your job, but also really scared of that,'" Morrone tells PEOPLE of the lead role
Daisy Jones & the Six was not a light undertaking for stars Riley Keough and Sam Claflin.
Camila Morrone, who starred in the Prime Video series with Keough and Claflin, now leads her own series: Netflix's Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Looking back on her experience making Daisy Jones, Morrone tells PEOPLE that Keough's experience at the top of the call sheet instilled a fear in her about what it would be like to lead a show.
"I saw Riley Keough and Sam Claflin go through hell on Daisy Jones & the Six," Morrone, 28, says.
She remembers "looking at Riley," who "was No. 1" on the call sheet as the series lead, and how she didn't "know if she's going to make it."
"She was withered. She was down," Morrone says of her costar, adding that Keough was "real gangster" for pushing through it all.
"They had to sing, and they had to play instruments, and they had to do it millions of times," she says. "And she had to play a character going through it. I remember looking at her and being like, 'Wow, I'm jealous of your job, but also really scared of that.'"

Despite how hard Keough, 36, and Claflin, 39, worked alongside the rest of the cast on the series — which was an adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's 2019 novel — Morrone says they "all loved that show."
"We were so grateful that we did it and it's changed all of our lives," she says.
Morrone's sentiment is one that the author of the book herself shares. “From the second [Keough's] name showed up in my inbox, it was like absolutely yes,” Reid previously told PEOPLE.

“For me to create the character of Daisy Jones, and then to watch her be Daisy Jones, it was honestly beyond my wildest dreams," she said, adding that she felt strongly about Claflin's performance as Billy — husband to Morrone's character, Camila.
“I look back at that book, and I see their faces," she said. "Riley understands Daisy, and Sam understands Billy just as intimately as I ever did."

As other books of hers are slated to be adapted, Reid said that the success of Daisy Jones puts the pressure on. “Riley is so perfectly cast as Daisy. It sets a really high bar."

Morrone's new series, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, couldn't be more different than Daisy Jones & the Six. Described as "horror’s take on a woman becoming a wife," the logline compares it to how Carrie is "horror’s version of a girl becoming a woman, and Rosemary’s Baby is the horrific version of a woman becoming a mother."

She and Adam DiMarco star as fiancés Rachel and Nicky who are on the five-day countdown to their wedding, but Rachel "can't shake the relentless feeling that something bad is going to happen," per the synopsis.
DiMarco tells PEOPLE that Morrone "really nailed it" as the series lead. "It's such a marathon and it's such an undertaking," he says of being the "true lead" of a show. "You're so fun to watch. You're so great in the show."
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is now streaming on Netflix and Daisy Jones & the Six can be streamed on Prime Video
