Baer Hunter, college football's best-named coach, has a new job

The best-named coach in college football has a new job.

Baer Hunter, a new hire to Ryan Silverfield's first-year Arkansas Razorbacks staff as an offensive analyst, will become Football Championship Subdivision program Elon's new offensive line coach this week.

Hunter confirmed the news directly to USA TODAY Sports after people close to the situation shared news of the move, which has not yet been publicly announced.

A former three-time All-Sun Belt Conference offensive lineman selection at Appalachian State, Hunter previously worked with closely with current Arkansas run game coordinator Jeff Myers – both in the past four months with the Razorbacks and prior to that at Memphis.

Despite just wrapping up his playing career at Appalachian State earlier this decade, Hunter already has worked on former Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson's Demon Deacons staff as well as at MTSU.

The impending move to Elon will mark the first time that Hunter has been in charge of an entire position.

Hunter will join the Elon program of coach Tony Trisciani. The Phoenix are members of the Coastal Athletic Association.
