Celebrities have embraced the “naked dress” trend for their weddings, wearing sheer fabrics and bold designs

Stars like Kate Upton and Chloë Sevigny wore multiple sheer looks over the course of their wedding weekend

Designers like Vera Wang and Jean Paul Gaultier have wored with the brides to reflect their unique personal style

When it came to their wedding day looks, these celebrities took a more risqué approach, choosing naked dresses that pushed the boundaries of bridal fashion.

For decades, stars have rocked the red carpet in a “naked dress,” giving the illusion of nudity through sheer fabrics, strategic embellishment placement, daring necklines and cutouts. Some of the most famous “naked” looks have come from Cher wearing Bob Mackie at the 1974 Met Gala to Jennifer Lawrence wearing Givenchy at the 2026 Golden Globes.

Celebrities may be known to opt for non-traditional wedding gowns for their nuptials, and in recent years, some have leaned into the naked dress trend to make a bigger statement, including Kate Upton in 2017 and Chloë Sevigny in 2022.

Here are seven celebrities who have worn naked wedding dresses.
